Bull's Head Bookshop
In 1925 Professor Howard Mumford Jones, then a member of the English faculty at UNC, approached the president of the university, Harry Woodburn Chase, and dwelt with sorrow
on the lack of a bookstore in the town of Chapel Hill. "I will, if you permit me," declared Professor Jones to President Chase, "open
a bookstore in my office."
Some eighty years later, the Bull's Head Bookshop thrives. From its first residence in Professor Jones's ordinary
office with shelves on the wall, to the basement of the Louis Round Wilson Library, to its current home in the Josephus
Daniels Building, the Bull's Head has gladly accepted its calling to supply the university community with all types
of books and a place to sit and read them. We take as our motto Professor Jones's words to his customers: "Please feel free to read
any of these books as long as you want to. If you want to buy one of them, it is for sale."
The Bull's Head Bookshop is located on the second floor of Student Stores. Our earnings go to support UNC undergraduate and graduate student scholarships. The Bull's Head sales staff may be reached directly at (919) 962-5060 or via e-mail at email@example.com
